Artist
Jo Carol Mitchell-Rogers
This body of work is a visual narrative about the process of reporting, producing, and disseminating the news. The images collectively tell the story of the news – from reporting to printing to reading. Influenced by the location of this hotel which is built on the site of former Greenville News building, Jo Carol studied printing processes and conducted extensive visual research to locate vintage photos to use as source material. At times, manipulating the scenarios by combining images or altering the physical and emotional relationships among the figures. More frequently, staying true to the source photograph in order depict the process with integrity, as well as to honor the figures laboring in anonymity.
